2022 Summit: Part 3 of 3

How can each of us help make a difference? Here are some action items that we can all do to make our community safer:

  • Start a discussion on social media about the public health impact and cost of gun violence. Share information from the APHA’s fact sheet, “Gun Violence is a Public Health Crisis.”
  • Contact your members of Congress to raise the issue of sensible gun violence legislation and attend your congressional representative’s public meetings or town halls. Call your U.S. Senators and Representatives via the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121. Demand your representative’s commitment to reasonable gun legislation focused on background checks, the sale and trade of weapons, assault weapons, high-capacity ammunition magazines, and gun modification equipment.
  • Go out and vote! And make sure your family and friends vote too!
  • Register for the Race Against Gun Violence with Strides for Peace on June 11, 2022. The RAGV is a special opportunity for people to train together, connect to the life-changing work of nonprofits, offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to Choose Hope and join others who share the common vision of a community free from the fear of gun violence.
